The new Sergeant arrives and that puts Phil, Mike and Alf on their guard. He seems very pedantic over things like uniform, and takes exception to Alf’s little habits such as smoking on duty. There is a dance at the village hall, everyone’s there and Mike is keen to spend time dancing with Maggie. Unfortunately Sgt Cradock beats him to it! A young girl is at the dance and spends time unsuccessfully trying to get Mike’s attention. Later she goes missing and a full search of the woods is mounted. Cradock doesn’t have much time for Blaketon’s advice, and eventually the girl is found, and her kidnapper arrested.
